We moved a month ago, and I love my new kitchen. I've got more space - which any chef will tell you is a must. I've got room for my oils, which I hate to put away. I've got my cookbooks, my fruit bowl, my onion bowl, my ramekins and saucers, my scales, my bread bin. Drawers galore, with measuring jugs, a mezzaluna and my beloved hand blender. You name it, it's probably out there. And the way the kitchen is situated, it's like a little cove.
There is one noticable absence - the microwave. When we moved, we had to leave the microwave as it was part of the flat. We've yet to get one of our own, and I must say, I'm not missing it. The only thing I ever used it for was to heat frozen vegetables quickly. I will admit that it can be a good way to retain nutrients, but I'm surviving.
My refrigerator is usually kept pretty full - see http://eatingforonecookingfortwo.blogspot.com/2007/06/fridge-mainstays.html for what I think should always be kept in any cook's fridge.
What's in your kitchen?
