four things we should do to live 14 years longer
A new study out from Cambridge University in the Public Library of Science Medicine journal attempts to clear things up for us all, giving us four basic principles we should follow for a longer life. Two of them are about healthy eating and drinking.
-consuming enough vitamin C every day (equivalent to five servings of fruit and vegetables a day)
-drinking less than 14 units of alcohol a week (1 unit=approximately 1 pint of beer)
-not being physically inactive (for example, exercising if you have a sedentary job)
-not smoking (this is the most important one, the researchers say)
The research was carried out over 13 years and monitored 20,000 people between 45-79 years old.
It makes sense to me! And I don’t think eating five portions of fruits and vegetables a day is difficult.
Just yesterday, I ate an apple, sweet potato, squash, spinach, clementines, chopped tomatoes, courgettes, and onions. Fruits and vegetables are a fantastic way to eat healthily and naturally.
