Apparently angel hair pasta, or capellini, is more filling ounce-per-ounce than any other pasta. It's all down to surface area, according to this month's Gourmet, which conducted a rather scientific experiment of weighing equal amounts of all types of pasta after boiling them. Capellini weighed the most.
I've always loved the texture of angel hair pasta, but I thought I was making a healthier choice by choosing whole wheat pasta. But the calories are the same, so it might be better to go for capellini, actually. Too often the 'standard' portion of pasta just isn't filling enough.
Capellini isn't readily available in the UK, though you can get it at Sainsbury's. In the US it's much more common, and you can even combine the best of both worlds and pick up whole wheat angel hair pasta.

Angel hair pasta truly is great...once I started using it, whole wheat or regular, I couldn't go back. Enjoyed your post!
